MIAMI, FL – November, 2022 – Litigation powerhouse Podhurst Orseck has promoted Kristina Infante to partner at the Firm and hired Zachary Gorwitz as an Associate. Podhurst Orseck has built a national reputation for its highly specialized practice in complex litigation, class action, appellate, and aviation matters.
Infante joined Podhurst Orseck in 2018 and has since led or been involved in some of the nation’s most high-profile and noteworthy cases, including the recent historic settlement secured in the lawsuit against the United States government in relation to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Highschool mass shooting in Parkland, the $57 million settlement with Volkswagen related to defective suspensions, as well as the Boeing 737 Max 8 Lion Air and Ethiopian Airline tragedies.
“From aviation and commercial litigation to class actions, Kristina’s skillset and go big or go home attitude across all areas has been an invaluable asset to our firm over the last few years,” said Podhurst Orseck Partner Steven C. Marks. “Her promotion to partner is only a natural progression in what is sure to be an incredibly prosperous and illustrious career. We are incredibly fortunate to have someone like Kristina continue her journey with Podhurst Orseck providing the consummate example for the next generation.”
Infante received her Juris Doctorate magna cum laude from New York University School of Law in 2014, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and served on the New York University Law Review. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Studies from Northwestern University. Prior to Podhurst Orseck, Infante practiced at Boies Schiller Flexner where she focused on products liability cases and complex commercial litigation on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Infante also clerked for Judge Adalberto Jordan on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Since joining the firm, Infante has been recognized by Chambers USA, as one of the National Law Journal Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Trailblazers, a Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars for 2022 and one of Law360’s 2022 Rising Stars.
Gorwitz will focus his practice on personal injury, aviation, mass torts, and complex litigation working alongside longtime Podhurst Orseck partners Ricardo Martinez-Cid and Lea P. Bucciero.
“Although we are blessed with an abundance of work, we remain very selective about hiring. But Zach is an obvious star,” said Podhurst Orseck Partner Ricardo Martinez-Cid. “Zach has all the tools to be a top trial lawyer.”
Born and raised in South Florida, Gorwitz joined Podhurst Orseck after serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Stanley Marcus of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Honorable Federico A. Moreno of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He also previously spent time as a Summer Associate with Williams & Connolly in Washington D.C.
Gorwitz graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Public Policy studies and holds a J.D. from the New York University School of Law where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, a Florence Allen Scholar, a Lederman Fellow in Law and Economics, served as an Executive Editor of the Law Review, and was a Legal Fellow at the Policing Project.
