The seasoned former associate returns after a successful tenure as an
Assistant United States Attorney.
MIAMI, FL – June 26, 2023 – Miami-based litigation powerhouse Podhurst Orseck has welcomed back a former associate, Dayron Silverio, as Senior Counsel. Silverio previously worked at the firm in 2017, where he spent two years handling products liability, wrongful death, personal injury, and aviation disaster matters before joining the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida as an Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA).
“For the past four years, I’ve had the honor of seeking justice on behalf of the most vulnerable members of our society—victims of violent crimes and sex trafficking, and exploited children,” said Silverio. “At Podhurst Orseck, I rejoin a firm deeply committed to serving victims, to redressing wrongs, and to fighting injustices. I am honored to work once again with such wonderful and capable people, and for such a storied firm.”
Silverio brings extensive courtroom and trial experience. Over the course of his career, he has tried over a dozen cases in state and federal courts, representing the government in criminal matters as well as civil plaintiffs and defendants, and handled numerous evidentiary hearings. Prior to joining Podhurst Orseck originally, Silverio served as an Assistant County Attorney for Miami-Dade County, where he represented the County and its employees in administrative, state, and federal civil proceedings.
In 2019, Silverio returned to public service as an AUSA. In that role, he prosecuted and investigated hundreds of federal crimes, including murder and murder-for-hire, racketeering activities, international kidnapping, sex trafficking, child exploitation offenses, narcotics trafficking, fraud offenses, aggravated identity theft, interstate and international property crimes, and money laundering. He also successfully briefed several matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, managed investigative teams from various law enforcement agencies, and served as filter counsel in a multimillion-dollar fraud prosecution involving multiple defendants and entities. For his efforts, Silverio received the Office’s 2020 Karen Cross & Beranton Whisenant Award given annually to one prosecutor who shows exceptional legal acumen, work ethic, esprit de corps, and outstanding performance during the first four years of service.
Upon rejoining Podhurst Orseck, Silverio will continue to focus on representing victims, working alongside the firm’s longtime partner and head of Class Action and Complex Litigation, Peter Prieto, handling complex commercial litigation, class actions, mass torts, and multi-district litigation matters.
“We are extremely excited to have Dayron back with us,” said Prieto. “As a result of his time with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the substantial trial experience he gained there, he now possesses a unique blend of skills that will suit him well in our practice. We expect great things from Dayron.”
The Cuban-born, Miami-raised Silverio received his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of Chicago Law School, and graduated summa cum laude from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science, where he received accolades for his academic research, honors thesis on the Spanish Civil War, and extensive involvement on campus.
Silverio previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mark E. Walker of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, and to the Honorable Adalberto J. Jordan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Silverio is a member of the Florida Bar and is fluent in English and Spanish.
